I had a meeting in London near the U.S. Embassy. Because I was finished for the day decided to walk back to the hotel which took me past Buckingham Palace. A throng had gathered around the Palace gates and the police were keeping people clear of the gates. I asked an elderly British couple what was happening and they told me it was the changing of the guard.
Not particularly interested in standing in the crowd I continued down Constitution toward my hotel when I just happened upon the guard leaving their barracks and making their march to Buckingham Palace.

So, while all of the tourists were crammed into the area around the Palace, this lucky American had a front row (well, actually gutter row along the street) view of the Palace guard as they made their way to Buckingham Palace.
Maybe the British royalty is irrelevant. I don’t think so. I think these kinds of customs and traditions are what help hold a society together. We need to protect our customs and traditions in this country, else we lose our cohesion as a nation.

So, a successful week in London. But it’s good to be back in Colorado and the good ol’ USA.
