Occasionally leftist, liberal, socialist politicians and leaders just let it rip, speaking truth without realizing (or, in Hillary’s case, knowing exactly what she was saying, but more about that later) just how honest they are being. But does anyone listen and comprehend the insightful truth they are stating? I was amazed to hear to such politicians today make such statements. U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former Cuban President and current Chairman of the Cuban Communist Party, Fidel Castro, made two such statements today.

During a question-and-answer session at the Council on Foreign Relations today, Secretary Clinton made the following remarks:
Our rising national debt levels [pose] a national security threat. It undermines our capacity to act in our own interest. And it does constrain us where constraint may be undesirable,” she said. “And it also sends a message of weakness internationally. I mean, it is very troubling to me that we are losing the ability not only to chart our own destiny, but to, you know, have the leverage that comes from this enormously effective economic engine that has powered American values and interests over so many years.
As I have stated on Fox and other news outlets, the rising national debt and deficit spending crimp our ability to respond to crisis either at home or abroad. The amount of our debt held by China subjects us to undue foreign influence on national security, foreign policy and other issues. Secretary Clinton is correct. Ultimately the debt – and a flaggling economy – are national security threats. Terrorists would be ecstatic to carry out another 9-11 attack during a period of economic decline, hastening that decline.
The answer, following the mid-term elections in November, and assuming that Republicans regain control of the House, Senate or both, is an immediate defunding of ObamaCare, a budget freeze (including entitlement programs) and an elimination and/or reduction in corporate taxes, capital gains taxes and any other taxes on small business owners (which are usually borne on their individual income tax returns). But are potential Republican winners listening and willing to make such drastic moves? These moves would create an immediate inflow of money into the United States, instead of dollars flowing to foreign markets.
But on a side note, it seems that Mrs. Clinton is also laying a subtle, yet firm, distinction between herself and President Obama with respect to the economy. While I would not necessarily trust Mrs. Clinton’s legislative programs to reduce the debt or limit deficit spending, she has nonetheless drawn the proverbial line in the sand with respect to her boss’ economic policies. The 2012 Democratic Party primary will be a thrill to watch.
And then, Fidel Castro comes out of the woodwork. During an interview with Jeffery Goldberg of The Atlantic Castro declared the Cuban communist/socialist system doesn’t work. According to a report by the Associated Press:
Jeffrey Goldberg, a national correspondent for The Atlantic magazine, asked if Cuba’s economic system was still worth exporting to other countries, and Castro replied: “The Cuban model doesn’t even work for us anymore” Goldberg wrote Wednesday in a post on his Atlantic blog.
He said Castro made the comment casually over lunch following a long talk about the Middle East, and did not elaborate.
So as we march blindly toward a socialist economy, Hillary Clinton and Fidel Castro speak the truth. Centrally planned economies, whether you call them communist, socialist, Marxist or fascist, simply do not work.
Anyone listening to these two?
